Selection of CCMG Board Members by the Awards and Nominations Committee

Each year in January, the management office (MO) reviews upcoming vacancies with the board and determines the intention of board members to stand for re-election.  The MO then sends this information to the Awards and Nominations (A&N) committee chair so that a slate can be prepared for presentation to the membership four months prior to the next Annual General Meeting (AGM).  The chair of A&N then asks the A&N committee for nominations to fill the vacancies, giving consideration to sub-specialty, geographic region, physician versus lab professional and gender.  Nominations are accompanied by a description of why the candidate is considered a suitable board member.  If there are more nominations than vacancies, the slate of candidates will be determined by a committee vote.  The chair of A&N then sends a letter to each nominee, describing the role of board members and asking if they would be willing to have their name stand as a nominee to the Board.  If agreeable, they are asked to submit a curriculum vitae and a signed CCMG Nominee form to the chair.  In the event that an individual declines, the nominee with the next most votes will be approached.  The final slate of nominees will be submitted to the board.  According to the CCMG bylaws, at this stage, the MO will send a call for further board nominations to the membership in a newsletter with the proposed slate, requesting that any further nominations be sent to the secretary two months prior to the AGM.  This nomination procedure includes a nomination form signed by two members in good standing and a statement by the nominee that he/she agrees to serve if elected.  Board members will be elected by the membership by the membership by ballot or by acclimation, depending upon the number of vacancies and nominees.
